To record live TV with IPTV, you need a player app that can record, free storage on the device or a USB drive, and an active IPTV Canada service. 5. Record a Live Channel Now
These steps use TiviMate. Start the channel and make sure it plays smoothly, because a recording keeps every freeze the live stream has. Then hold OK on the channel in the guide and select Record (or Custom recording to set the length).
The first time, TiviMate warns that recording may not work on every channel and may use more than one server connection. Select Record to start, or Settings to choose the recording folder first.
A red dot appears next to the show in the guide while it records. Leave the device on; you can switch the TV screen off.
To stop early, hold OK on the show again and choose to stop the recording. Then open the recordings list to check the file plays.
6. Schedule Recordings From the TV Guide
- Scroll the guide to the future show, hold OK on it and choose Record.
- Add a few minutes before and after in the recording settings, in case the show starts or ends late.
- For a weekly show, look for the series recording option so every episode is captured.
- Keep the device powered and online. Turn off aggressive sleep or power-saving settings, or the timer won’t fire.

7. Find, Play and Back Up Your Recordings
Recordings appear in the app’s recordings section (DVR in TiviMate’s side menu), where you can play them with pause, rewind and fast-forward. If a file won’t play there, open it in VLC, which plays almost any video format. Files on a USB drive can be unplugged and watched on a computer, and worth copying there if you want to keep them, since a reset box takes its internal storage with it. Delete what you’ve watched regularly; space goes faster than you expect.

- Quality: a recording is exactly the live stream, never better, and any buffering ends up in the file.
- Connections: recording one channel while watching another means two streams at once, so your plan has to allow both. Check how many connections your IPTV subscription includes.
